IPCC Report

On December 10, 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recently shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change". The IPCC is a scientific body that consists of hundreds of members from across the globe. The purpose of the panel is to provide an objective source of information on the causes of global climate change and potential strategies of how to mitigate the impacts of it. The most recent IPCC Report was released in February 2007.

NETL's 2007 Carbon Sequestration Technology Roadmap and Program Plan

NETL's 2007 Carbon Sequestration Technology Roadmap and Program Plan ensures the future of fossil energy systems through the successful deployment of carbon capture and storage technologies.

The DOE’s Carbon Sequestration Program leverages applied research with field demonstrations to assess the technical and economic viability of carbon capture and storage technologies. The program is building a portfolio of technologies that can capture and store greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.

NETL's Carbon Sequestration Atlas of the United States and Canada

NETL’s Carbon Sequestration Atlas of the United States and Canada offers an in depth look at the logistics and the partnerships behind the DOE’s carbon sequestration research project. The atlas addresses questions such as:

  • What is carbon sequestration?
  • What types of carbon capture and storage are available and being tested?
  • What are the partnerships and how are they contributed towards this research?
